Early Super Bowl Observation
Well, the Super Bowl XL teams are set. The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Seattle Seahawks are headed to the Motor City - Sunday Feb 5.
I hear (need to verify) that the Las Vegas books have the Steelers as 3 or 3 1/2 point favorites. Interesting. I would have thought the Seahawks (seeded number 1 in the NFC) would have been an early 5 point favorite. The Steelers winning 3 straight playoff road games against their AFC conferences number 1, 2, and 3 seeds will strongly influence the wagering public - thus the need to make a Seattle bet more attractive - thus the opening line of Pittsburgh minus 3 (or 3 1/2).
My early prediction - take the points - bet the Seahawks. Haven't formulated my opinion as to which team actually wins the game but I suppose I believe Seattle will cover the spread. It's like receiving a 8 point gift from the odds makers.
